The purpose of this study is to evaluate the effect of a differentiated geometry curriculum based on creative thinking and the parallel curriculum model on creativity, spatial ability and success of gifted and talented students. For this purpose, only two units, namely ?Polygons? and ?Geometric Solids? taken from the 5th grade mathematics curriculum were differentiated.In this study, pretest and posttest experimental model was used. The study was carried out in Istanbul with 30 5th grade students, 15 being in the experimental group and the other 15 being in the control group attending Istanbul Science and Art Center that offers differentiated program for gifted and talented children after school. While the differentiated curriculum in geometry was being administered to the experimental group, the regular curriculum without any differentiation was being administered to the control group.In order to collect data pertaining to this research, Test for Creative Thinking ? Drawing Production (TCT-DP) developed by Urban & Jellen, Spatial Ability Test developed by John Hopkins University, Center for Talented Youth and Geometry Achievement Test that was developed by the researcher were administered. These last three tests were administered as pretest and posttest to all students in the experimental and control groups. The data obtained was analyzed by using Mann-Whitney U Test and Wilcoxon Signed-Ranks Test taking place in the statistical program.According to the findings of the study, it has been observed that the geometry program that was prepared for gifted and talented students increased the success, creativity and spatial thinking skills of the students.

Bu araştırmanın amacı, üstün zekâlı ve yetenekli öğrencilerde yaratıcı düşünme ve paralel öğretim programı modeli temele alınarak farklılaştırılmış geometri öğretiminin yaratıcılığa, uzamsal yeteneğe ve başarıya etkisini değerlendirmektir. Bu amaçla; 5. Sınıf matematik ders kitabının ?Çokgenler? ve ?Geometrik Cisimler? adlı iki ünitesi alınarak farklılaştırılmış geometri ünite programı oluşturulmuştur.Araştırmada, deneme modellerinden ön test ve son test deseni kullanılmıştır. Çalışma, İstanbul ilinde, üstün zekâlı ve yetenekli çocuklara okul sonrası farklılaştırılmış programı sunan İstanbul Bilim ve Sanat Merkezi`nde 5. sınıfa devam eden 15'i deney grubunda, 15'i de kontrol grubundaki toplam 30 öğrenci ile gerçekleştirilmiştir. Deney grubundaki öğrencilere ?Çokgenler? ve ?Geometrik Cisimler? üniteleri boyunca kendileri için farklılaştırılmış program uygulanırken kontrol gurubundaki öğrencilere herhangi bir farklılaştırılma yapılmadan mevcut öğretim yöntemiyle derslerini işlemeye devam etmişlerdir.Araştırma kapsamındaki verilerin toplanması için araştırmacı tarafından geliştirilen Geometri Başarı Testi, Urban ve Jellen tarafından geliştirilen Yaratıcı Düşünme- Şekilsel Üretim Testi ve John Hopkins Üniversitesi, Yetenekli Gençler Merkezi tarafından geliştirilen Uzamsal Yetenek Testi kullanılmıştır. Adı geçen üç test de deney ve kontrol grubundaki tüm öğrencilere öntest ve sontest olarak verilmiştir. Elde edilen veriler istatistik programında yer alan Mann Whitney-U testi ve Wilcoxon İşaretlenmiş Mertebeler Testi teknikleri kullanılarak analiz edilmiştir.Araştırmanın bulgularına göre, üstün zekâlı ve yetenekli öğrencilere yönelik hazırlanan geometri programının öğrencilerin başarı, yaratıcılık ve uzamsal düşünme yeteneğini arttırdığı gözlenmiştir.
