Today, the companies have to competite at an environment that the high expectations of customers should be ensured. Six Sigma is a very important methodology that is used by the companies of which wants to preserve and improve their competition capability at this environment. By the implimention of Six Sigma, companies acquire important savings and the systematization of it, not only provide permanent savings but also brings structural company reforms by acting the culture of the company.By this study, it is explained how the chronic problems of companies may be solved by the Six Sigma methodology which is consist of define, measure, analyse, improve and control phases. At the study; first, the Six Sigma approach and basic terms are explained. After than, it?s given detailed information about the Six Sigma organization and methodology. The application of the Six Sigma methodology, it?s integration to the other manufacturing and project management systems is explained by an application project at an automotive factory and it?s supplier. At the application project, first of all, the project management and the organization of Six Sigma at the automotive factory is explained. Then the quality problems of the fiberglass product (FRP), bought from the supplier, solved by a Six Sigma project by the participation of the supplier. After the project the complete reworks decreased from %59 to %0 and regional reworks decreased from %39 to %7. At the result of application project, it?s seen that cronic and hard problems can be solved and companies may get important savings by the systematic and process oriented approach of Six Sigma.

Altı Sigma; tüm boyutları ile müşteri beklentilerinin arttığı, rekabet gücünü korumak ve geliştirmek için bu beklentilerin karşılanması gerektiği günümüzde, şirketlerin kullandıkları ve önemli kazanımlar elde ettikleri önemli bir metodolojidir. Sistematikliği kazanımların kalıcı olmasını sağlarken yine bu sistematiklik zamanla şirketin kültürünü de etkilereyerek yapısal şirket reformlarını da beraberinde getirmektedir.Bu çalışma ile şirketlerin kronikleşmiş problemlerine Altı Sigma yaklaşımının tanımlama, ölçme, analiz etme, iyileştirme ve kontrol etme metodolojisi ile nasıl çözüm getirebileceği açıklanmıştır. Çalışmada Altı Sigma yaklaşımı ve temel kavramlar hakkında bilgi verildikten sonra, Altı Sigma yaklaşımında organizasyonel yapının nasıl olması gerektiği ve metodolojisi hakkında detaylı bilgiler verilmiştir. Verilen bu teorik bilgilerin nasıl uygulanması gerektiği, diğer proje ve üretim yönetim sistemleri ile nasıl entegre edilerek sistematik bir yaklaşım geliştirilmesi gerektiği, otomotiv ana ve yan sanayinde ortaklaşa gerçekleştirilen bir uygulama projesi kapsamında açıklanmıştır. Uygulama projesinde öncelikle otomotiv ana sanayi şirketindeki proje yönetimi, Altı Sigma alt yapısı ve Altı Sigma projelerinin nasıl yönetildiği açıklandıktan sonra tedarikçiden alınan Fiber Takviyeli Plastik (FRP) malzemedeki kalite sorunlarının, tedarikçinin de dahil olduğu Altı Sigma projesi ile çözümü anlatılmıştır. Proje sonucunda kalitesiz FRP malzemeye uygulanan komple tamir oranı %59'dan %0'a, bölgesel tamir oranı %39'dan %7'ye düşmüştür. Yapılan uygulama sonucunda görülmüştür ki; şirketlerin kronikleşmiş ve çözümsüz gibi algılanmaya başlamış problemleri, Altı Sigma yaklaşımının sistematik, proseslere odaklanan ve problemin kaynağına inip yok etmeyi hedefleyen yaklaşımı ile ortadan kaldırılabilmekte ve Altı Sigma yaklaşımı şirketlere büyük faydalar sağlamaktadır.
