Abstract

In this study, some of the important Turkish Republican Era Mosques constructed at mid-20th century in Ankara, province of Cankaya, are analyzed in terms of Mahmut Akok Tile Program's technique, dimension, color, motif, and composition characteristics. Tile samples are chosen from Maltepe, Cebeci, Kucukesat and Bahcelievler Central Mosques according to different application fields and these are examined on-site. The detailed information forms are keptand supported with the tile phographs. Some examples of motif constructions and adorncomposition schemes are added to forms. The tiles in mosques are introduced in details with technical specifications and decorative features. As a result of this work, itis seen that Mahmut Akok Tile Programs in mosques demonstrate the pattern features of the Classical Ottaman Tile Art. Even after four centuries, redesigning of classical tile art at colour and pattern makes us proud in terms of the development of our tile art.
