In this study primarily, theories of economic growth, effects of the factors that are thought to impact on economic growth and the historical development of economic growth in Turkey are examined. Then, based on this information, it is tried to be revealed with the empirical method which variables are effective in economic growth in Turkey. Thereby it is tried to be analyzed the relationships between the variables that shape economic growth. In the emprical section 1 dependent and 16 independent variables are used. In this thesis study, covered data start from 1960 to 2009 that includes provided on annual basis, the methods are used Unit Root tests (ADF, P-P, KPSS), Granger causality test, Toda Yamamoto (M-WALD) causality test, Chow and Zivot-Andrews tests, ARDL test and Co-Integration analysis and short and long term growth relations are revealed and possible economic growth policies are discussed in the light of the findings revealing the determiners of the economic growth of Turkey. Results are as follows:a) Theories of economic growth are complements of each other rather than being alternatives of each other. b) There are many variables that are effective on the growth in Turkey, however the effects related to public are more prominent.c) The mechanism of growth in Turkey is demeand-side rather than being supply-side.d) Growth in Turkey has a characteristics that is suitable for exogenous growth models rather than endogenous growth models.e) Examination what affects the economic growth, is able to be an instrument to understand the relationships of various variables in economics. Examples of this are given in ?Results? Section.Key Words: Economic growth, the sources of economic growth, variables that affect economic growth, Unit root tests, Granger causality, M-Wald causality test, Chow and Zivot Andrews broken tests and Co-integration tests.
