In this study, it was examined that effects of dietary Origanum vulgare hirtumspp. extracts on the performance of male broiler chicks, some blood serumparameters and bacteria counts in faeces. This study was conducted at the ResearchFarm of Agricultural Faculty of Kahramanmaraş Sütçü İmam University. Thepowder extract of Origanum vulgare hirtum spp. was used at four different levels; 0ppm (control), 300, 500 and 700 ppm broiler diets. The experiment was designed asrandomised block. Each treatment was tested in three sub-groups (3 replications)each contained 10 male chicks, totally 120 1-d old male broiler chicks were used inthis study. The chicks were fed with broiler starter (230 g crude protein and 310 KcalME per kg feed) at the first week. The broiler chicks were fed and watered ad-libitumwith 24 h illumination. During the experiment 2-6 weeks, body weight, feedconsumption and feed conversion ratio were determined weekly. At the end of thetrial, the differences in body weight, body weight gain, carcass, liver, gizzard, heartand abdominal fat weights were not affected by treatments (P>0.05). Total feedconsumption was affected by treatment significantly (P<0.01). Feed conversion ratiowas affected significantly by treatment (P<0.05). There were no significant effect oftreatments on blood serum trigliserit, cholesterol and HDL-C parameters. Total feedintakes during experimental period were 3723, 3654, 3594 and 3602 g respectively inIVABSTRACT İlhami GEMCİcontrol, 300 ppm, 500 ppm and 700 ppm dietary Origanum vulgare hirtum spp.extract treatments. Feed conversion ratios in these groups were 1.75, 1.67, 1.65 and1.63 respectively. In 14, 28 and 42 days, Escherichia coli account in the faeces weredecreased by this plant?s extract. Keywords: Origanum vulgare hirtum ssp., broiler, growth performance, carcasscharacteristics, blood serum parameters, Escherichia coli.V.

Anahtar Kelime: Origanum vulgare ssp. hirtum, broyler, besi performansı, karkasözellikleri, kan serumu parametreleri, Escherichia coli.III.
