Abstract

Because of the world?s increasing need for energy, the need for natural gas as analternative energy source increases everyday; for this reason, the production gainsimportance everday. At the same time the fields of using natural gas extendseveryday. At this study, named ?The Methods of Refining Natural Gas? and prepared basedon the importance of natural gas, first an information about the formation, contentand history of natural gas is given, then the fields of using natural gas is included.Besides, the rezerves that their existence is proven are shown and the areas thattheir production is done are indicated.Information about the content of natural gas is given and the unrefinements in itscontent are explained. The biggest problem in the production of natural gas isremoving the unrefinements that it contains in its content. The refining procedure has two important steps. One of these is removing sulphur. The main methods used for this step are Girbotol process, Thylox method andAlkasid method. The other important step for refining is removing water. Information about themethods used for this is given in the content of the thesis. In the conclusion part, information about the disadvantages of these methods isgiven and alternative methods for these are presented.ix.
