In this thesis, structural, thermal and mechanical properties of Al85Ni15-xSix (x=0, 2.5, 5, 7.5, 10, 12.5 and 15) alloys system have been investigated. The alloys were prepared by Vacuum Arc Remelting (VAR) method under argon-controlled atmosphere. The properties of the alloys were investigated using X-Ray Diffraction (XRD), Scanning Electron Microscopy coupled with Energy Dispersive X-Ray Spectroscopy (SEM-EDX), Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC), Differential Thermal Analysis (DTA) and Vickers microhardness (HV) tester. According to XRD analyses, the obtained phases of the alloys are in the form of crystalline structures, and the annealing temperature range 200-500ºC affect to form different solid solutions and intermetallic phases. The SEM micrographs of the alloys refer to compositional homogeneity and dendritic, while EDX analysis results show to contain elements of Al, Ni, and Si, for all the as-solidified samples as well as after their heat treatments. The DSC traces showed one endothermic peak is around 581.8-663°C which is related to the melting point of Al solid solution phases. DTA measurements showed several endothermic peaks in the range of 574.8-1024.8ºC, and they are referring to the melting point of Al, Al3Ni or others intermetallic phase. On the other hand, the Vickers microhardness for the as-solidified Al85Ni10Si5 alloys has a maximum value of (155.8) HV while a minimum amount of (68.18) HV is obtained for the alloy Al85Si15 annealed at 500ºC. In general, microhardness value decreases with increasing the annealing temperature for all alloys. The intermediate alloy Al85Ni7.5Si7.5 from the system has a non-order structure with the increase of the number of phases forming the alloy.Key Words: Al-based alloys, Arcmelting, XRD, SEM, DTA, DSC, Hv.

Bu tezde, Al85Ni15-xSix (x=0, 2.5, 5, 7.5, 10, 12.5, 15 ) alaşımlarının yapısal, ısısal ve mekaniksel özellikleri incelenmiştir. Alaşımlar, argon atmosferi altında vakumlu ark-eritme metodu ile üretildi. Alaşımların yapısal, ısısal ve mekaniksel özellikleri, X-ışını difraksiyonu, (XRD), Taramalı Elektron Mikroskobu (SEM), Diferansiyel Taramalı Kalorimetre (DSC), Diferansiyel Isısal Analiz (DTA) ve Vickers Mikrosertlik (HV) testleri ile incelendi. XRD sonuçlarına göre bu alaşımlardan elde edilen fazlar kristal yapıdadir ve ısısal işlemler katı çözelti ve farklı intermetalik fazların oluşumunda etkili olmuştur. Alaşımların SEM sonuçları yapının dendritik ve kompozisyonun homojen olduğunu, EDX analizleri de alaşımların Al, Ni ve Si içerdiğini göstermiştir. DSC sonuçları 581.8-663°C civarında Al katı çözeltisinin erime sıcaklığına karşı gelen bir endotermik pik göstermiştir. DTA ölçümleri 574.8-1024.8ºC aralığında Al, Al3Ni ve diğer intermetalik fazları temsil eden bir kaç endotermik pik göstermiştir. Diğer taraftan, Al85Ni10Si5 alaşımı en yüksek mikrosertlik değerini (155.8) birim gösterirken, 500ºC de ısısal işleme tabi tutulan Al85Si15 alaşımı en düşüt mikrosertlik değerini (68.18) göstermiştir. Genelde tüm alaşımların mikrosertlik değerleri ısısal işlemle azalmıştır. Al85Ni7.5Si7.5 alaşımı faz sayısının artması ile düzenli olmayan bir yapıya sahip olup bu yönü ile diğer alaşımlardan farlılık göstermektedir.Anahtar kelimeler: Al-esaslı alaşımlar, Ark-eritme, XRD, SEM, DTA, DSC, Hv.
