Abstract

As the field of research, the flora of the area among Soma-Kınık-Erdelli, in the Aegean region, covering the mountanious part in the south of Bakırçay, has been changed enormously due to human facts. Our aim is to introduce the flora, with the reasons of the changes mentioned .In the field of research, the general geomorphological structure is consisted of the relief ranging in the north-east and South-west, and the collapsed area surrounding this high relief. In the field, which is in the Mediterrenean climate, the avarage yearly temperature changes between 15,3 0C and 16,1 oC, the yearly rain amount is 554,4 mm in Soma and 563,2 mm in Akhisar. A large part of the field is covered with brown soil lacking in calcium and brown forest soil. Bakırçay is the most important stream in the area. The flora which grows up due to ecological conditions is dry forest formation. This formation is destructed by the effect of human activities. The forest formation consists of red pine, black pine and oak in the high parts. Due to destruction, forests have changed into scrup and garrigue in the low parts. The flora in the field of research have changed considerably up to present. Among the reasons of this change agricultural activities, fire and forestation, mining activities and stone quarries can be listed. At present, some kinds of plants have been picked by the people in the area, sold in bazaars and used for different purposes. Within the field, there are not the places which are protected in the official status (national parks etc.).
