Human beings have been in the struggle with nature to have higher living standards throughout history. To this end, they have been trying to change the nature for their wishes and benefit from the sources of nature as much as possible. Exploitation of nature has caused major environmental problems which cause concerns for the next generations in this century. The biggest responsible for these problems has shown as the dominant economic system and the firms, which perform in this system. The aim of this thesis is, to determine how small and medium sized firms in this region emphasis on environmental principles when performing their economic activities, like supplier selection and production. In the parallel of this aim, we would determine the green supply chain perceptions. This research had conducted with companies in ?SATSO Firm List? (Sakarya Chamber of Commerce). 100 companies had selected from 577 by systematic method. Thus, we would like to measure what amount of cost can companies bear to protecting the environment, their customers? perceptions about green initiatives, details of green applications they have perform (if they have of course) and the factors that push them to green supply chain. In order to reach this goal, we use a questionnaire which is conducted with mid and upper level managers of small and midsize businesses in Sakarya region. Also an extensive literature review about green supply chain management will be done.
