Abstract

This study is an attempt to comprehend Ali Asker Ceylan who had a distinct place for Turkish protest music and his music. Ali Asker became a musician under the influence of turkish popular poet-singer tradition. However there were either modern themes and civic elements in his music. He made music as a representative of turkish popular poet-singer tradition and a protest musician who had considerable political sensibility. Ali Asker tried to influence society to gain awareness. At this point, he was in social movements not only as a musician but also an organic intellectual of the oppressed class. We will firstly deal Turkish popular poet-singer tradition and then historical and sociological development of protest musich to comprehend the music of Ali Asker. We will discuss Ali Asker and his music over the terms of hegemony, anti hegemony and organic intellectual of proletariat.Key Words: Tradition, Invented tradition, Hegemony, Anti hegemony, Organic intellectual, Protest music.

Bu çalışma protest müzik alanında özgün bir yere sahip olan Ali Asker Ceylan'ı ve müziğini anlama çabasıdır. Ali Asker müziğe ozan-aşık geleneği etkisinde başlamıştır. Ancak müziğine modern kavramlar ve kentli öğelerin girmiştir. Aynı anda hem ozan geleneğinin bir temsilcisi hem de politik duyarlılığı üst seviyede bir protest müzik sanatçısı olarak üretimlerine devam etmiştir. Ali Asker yaptığı müzikle toplumu etkilemeye ve duyarlılık yaratmaya çalışmıştır. Bu noktada sadece bir müzisyen olarak değil aynı zamanda ezilen sınıfların organik aydını olarak toplumsal pratiğin içinde yer almıştır. Ali Asker müziğini anlamak için önce aşıklık geleneğinin daha sonra da protest müziğin tarihsel ve sosyolojik gelişimi ele alacağız. Ali Asker'i ve üretimlerini hegemonya, karşı hegemonya ve proletaryanın organik aydını kavramları üzerinden değerlendireceğiz.Anahtar Kelimeler: Gelenek, İcat edilmiş gelenekler, Hegemonya, Karşı hegemonya, Organik Aydın, Protest Müzik.
