Abstract

Sufism is a mystical version of İslam. Although It is oftentimes reduced to only one single voice, colour and interpretation, in fact this religion is composed of multifaced, polyphony and definetly multilayered formations. When viewed from this angle, throughout İslamic history two different roads named `orthodox, exoteric, mainstream İslam` and `heterodox, mystical, esoteric İslam` showed up; the gap between these two converse roads, which oftenly conflict with each other, have continued to maintain ıts existence by growing from day to day. So, sufi's road, which blesses God's cemal face, reading the universe and existence in a cyclical way and seeing the life as a whole circle, constitues one of these two different roads. This thesis targeted to reach today's Turkey by looking at sufi philosophy and following sufi's cylical universe. It aimed at emphasizing an interaction between local and global by probing the ways ıt is structured over media texts. The study used the representation theory of Stuart Hall. Hall said that media texts construct message as a discourse. The study purposed to understand a wider socio-cultural system which is behind media representations and shaping texts.
