Abstract

In this thesis, Pt(111) crystal surface which was prepared for epitaxial film growthes by means of LEED and XPD techniques was tried to be characterized by using MSCD simulation program.Polar XPD experiment was accomplished in various azimuthal angles on Pt(111) crystal surface which was polished by using mechanic and electropolish processes. At the same time, MSCD simulation program was used as a director to get exact results of XPD experiment. For this reason, phase shift and radial matrices files were prepared mainly for platinium. After that, structure of platinium crystal was determined layer by layer in input file by using ATOMS program. Diffraction patterns of Pt(111) crystal were obtained by using MSCD program.Finally, experimental and theoretical results were compared by using R-factor (reliability factor). Hence, a suitable model was attempted to be developed for experimental results.

Yapılan bu tez çalışmasında, LEED ve XPD teknikleriyle epitaksiyel film büyütmeleri için hazırlanan Pt(111) kristal yüzeyi MSCD similasyon programı kullanılarak karakterize edilmeye çalışıldı.Mekanik ve elektro parlatma işlemleriyle parlatılan Pt(111) kristali üzerinde farklı azimuthal açılarda polar XPD deneyi gerçekleştirildi. Aynı anda, MSCD programı daha kesin XPD sonuçları elde etmek için yönlendirici olarak kullanıldı. Öncelikle platin için faz kayması ve matris dosyaları elde edildi. Daha sonra ATOMS programından yararlanılarak platin kristali tabaka tabaka veri girişi dosyasında tanımlandı. MSCD programı çalıştırılarak Pt(111) kristaline ait teorik difraksiyon desenleri elde edildi.Sonuçta, elde edilen deneysel ve teorik sonuçlar R-faktörü (uygunluk faktörü) kullanılarak karşılaştırıldı. Böylece deneysel sonuçlara uygun bir teorik modelleme geliştirilmeye çalışıldı.
