Gerçekçilik düşüncesi sanatın başlangıcından bu yana tartışılmış, üzerine düşünülmüş ve sanat kuramlarının ana sorunsallarından biri olmuştur. Yansıtma kuramına göre çağlar boyunca gerçekliğin yansıtılması sanatın ana kaynağıdır. Aristoteles'in Mimesis kavramıyla oluşturduğu tragedya düşüncesinin içindeki gerçeğe uygun olma ve inandırıcı olma düşüncesi çağlar boyunca geliştirilerek sürdürülmüştür.

Since the beginning of art discussed the idea of realism, thought out and has been one of the main problem of art theory. According to the theory of reflection through the ages is the main source of art to reflect reality. Aristotle's Mimesis in the idea of tragedy created with the concept of authentic and convincing idea of being developed throughout the ages. The aesthetic philosophy has been one of the main sources. The aesthetic understanding of the thoughts and philosophy is queried, developed different thoughts. Although all the different ideas of realism in art of the attitude of the source remained there all the time.Throughout the history of World Theatre, all theatre theories have dealt with the idea of reality, its connections with external life, its interaction with the environment of Man, and its experiences in the inner world. Theatre is a place in life, its connection to life is very strong. Because the material is life itself, and the medium of expression is human. Realism takes place in art as an attitude throughout the ages, especially in theatre. With the changing conditions and the emerging science, the impact of the world of thought 19. after the second half of the century, realism began to become a method, and as an art movement, it influenced the whole world's art. Determining the characteristics that distinguish the current of realism from the attitude of realism and reviewing its effects on World Theatre will be a guide. The current of classical realism will leave deep traces in the world theatre and will be the beginning of the conception of modernism. 20. at the beginning of the century, the concept of realism will begin to take precedence over the social view and the method of social realism will be established. When we look at the historical development of our theatre, the understanding of realism does not find much place in the early years of the theatre in the Western sense that we met with Tanzimat. Plays influenced mostly by French romanticism and melodramas will be written. After the constitutional monarchy, the idea of realism and, more accurately, naturalism was debated. In the transition from realistic attitude to realism as a method, we see that the first attempts were made in Meşrutiyet. It is possible to talk about two different trends with the Republic. In the early years of the Republic, games are written that use a more romantic discourse with a duty-oriented approach, using the method that we can call Revolutionary Romance. On the other hand, we see that realism, as a method, begins to exist in our playwriting. In our post-Republic theatre, we can say that realism is the dominant understanding and will hold its place for many years. We see realism flourishing in the 1950s, enriching our playwriting with different perspectives. Although the debates in the 1960s within the framework of the concept of 'National Theatre' may change the view of realism, it cannot be the dominant understanding, but it will succeed in questioning the weight of realism in our theatre. On the other hand, the 60s will be dominated by a socialist realistic approach to our theatre, even our world for an entire summer. Writers who defend the idea of National Theatre and writers who defend the idea of epic theatre will also use realism and open up to social realism. In the 1970s, our theatre was dominated by the socialist sense of realistic literature that prioritized the political view. Social realism, reticent or reticent after the 1980s, loses its power. Until the 2000s, we can say that the effect of our theater is very low. After the 2000s, we can observe that realistic thinking has started to come forward again, and especially social problems have started to take place frequently in the games. Although different formal attempts were made to replace the classical realistic form, we can say that the realistic attitude has come to the fore again. The historical process of our post-Republic playwriting will be examined whether or not our playwriting is compatible with the characteristics of the current of realism in the Western sense. Our work, created by tracing the historical process, will attempt to reveal the course of development of realism in our theatre. At the end of the line of development, attention will also be drawn to the new realistic look in today's playwriting.
