Abstract

In this study, the molecular phylogeny of Nannospalax spp. was studied using the nuclear gene growth hormone receptor exon 10 (GHR exon 10) region to examine two alternative hypotheses: (i) The cytotypes identified in the distribution area of the Nannospalax xanthodon species have genetic differences to represent separate species; alternatively, (ii) N. xanthodon is not a complex species, and the present chromosomal difference is only geographic variations. The sequence series of the blind mole rat samples with different cytotypes studied were subjected to Maximum likelihood, Neighbor joining and Network phylogenetic analysis. The analysis results supports that there are many species or subspecies in the lind mole rat populations in Turkey. The results of the research support that there is no gene flow between the Thrace and Anatolian populations, which are still represented as separate species, and that both populations are highly differentiated. When the literature and the results obtained from this thesis are evaluated together, it is thought that there may be new subspecies and / or subspecies in Anatolia.

Bu çalışmada Nannospalax cinsi körfarelerin moleküler filogenisi nükleer gen büyüme hormon reseptörü exon 10 (GHR exon 10) bölgesi kullanılarak çalışılmış ve iki alternatif hipotez test edilmiştir: (i) Nannospalax xanthodon türünün yayılış alanında belirlenen sitotipler ayrı türleri temsil edecek kadar genetik farklılığa sahiptir; alternatif olarak (ii) N. xanthodon kompleks bir tür değildir ve mevcut kromozomal farklılık coğrafik varyasyonlardan ibarettir. Çalışılan farklı sitotiplere sahip körfare örneklerinin sekans dizileri Maksimum likelihood, Neighbour joining ve Network filogenetik analizlerine tabi tutulmuştur. Analiz sonuçları Türkiye'de yayılış gösteren körfare populasyonları içinde pek çok tür ve/veya alttür olduğunu desteklemiştir. Araştırma sonuçları, halen ayrı türler olarak temsil edilen Trakya ve Anadolu populasyonları arasında gen akışının olmadığını ve her iki populasyonun yüksek düzeyde farklılaştığını desteklemektedir. Literatür ve bu tez çalışmasından elde edilen sonuçlar birlikte değerlendirildiğinde Anadolu'da muhtemel yeni alttür ve/veya alttürlerin olabileceği düşünülmektedir.
