Abstract:

This paper presents - within its methodological requirements - an epistemological conception about the discourse of criticism of literary criticism as a comprehensive knowledge about the discourse of criticism. This conception attempts to question the epistemology of criticism and analyze its cognitive data theoretically and conceptually, and links it to the major conditions of the Western critical mind, especially in its post-modernist turn, and then moves on. We built this perception by listening to the experience of the Tunisian critic Muhammad Al-Nasser Al-Ajaimi, especially in his important book: Modern Arab Criticism and Western Schools of Criticism, through which we present this paper as an interpretive approach to his reading, which has an important cognitive and conceptual space within the Arab cultural field. It is a prominent reading in light of this socio-epistemological embarrassment that has produced - in our view - great conceptual confusion following the Arab cultural field’s reception of this Western interpretation and its critical approaches.
