Abstract:

Most of the African countries suffered after independence and stability was not known because of the ethnic wars and ethnic conflicts characterized by cruelty and fierce. This paper dealt with the historical roots of the ethnic conflict in Rwanda and its consequences. The purpose of this paper is to illustrate the historical circumstances that helped fuel the dispute between the Tutsis and the Hutus, which surfaced with the colonial rule that used indirect government policy, which brought the Tutsi closer to the Hutus. It also aimed at clarifying the political impasse in which Rwanda had suffered after having suffered from the problem of non-statehood, which meant that the supreme loyalty was to nationalities. The economic roots of the inability to build a nation-state as well as the one-party problem led to the failure to implement comprehensive development programs and lack of interest in the minorities, which led to the civil war in Rwanda, although not received from neighboring countries such as Burundi and Congo marked the longest and most terrible war of genocide in the African continent. Many catastrophic consequences in the Lakes region. The study followed the theoretical and historical descriptive method. It concluded that the colonization played a major role in raising the sense and tribal feeling on the basis of the superiority of the Tutsis against the Hutus practicing apartheid. This led to the post-independence war. The war caused extensive economic devastation in Rwanda The repercussions of the war on the Rwandan people, as well as human losses, have left the war with social, cultural and health problems that have continued for long periods of time. In addition to the extension of its influence to the neighboring countries that have incurred the burdens of refugees in addition to ignite their collapse in the state of Burundi because of the same human composition in both countries.
