to identify electronic game addiction and its relationship to marital alienation among a group of couples in Jeddah Governorate. To achieve the study’s objectives, the researchers adopted a mixed-methods approach. They applied the Electronic Game Addiction Questionnaire designed by Daqi and Absi (2022) and the Marital Alienation Scale designed by Abu Shammala (2018) to a sample of 160 husbands and wives. In addition, five individual interviews were conducted with wives of electronic game addicts. The study found a statistically significant positive correlation between husbands’ electronic game addiction and their wives’ feelings of marital alienation. The level of marital alienation among wives of electronic game addicts reached 57%, indicating a moderate level of marital alienation. Results also showed a statistically significant positive correlation between husbands’ game addiction and organizational issues experienced by their wives; a statistically significant positive correlation between game addiction and marital silence among wives; and a statistically significant positive correlation between game addiction and wives’ feelings of marital distress. Interview results indicated that marriages of electronic game addicts face problems, challenges, and negative impacts. Based on these findings, the researchers presented several recommendations, including launching awareness campaigns highlighting the dangers and negative effects of electronic game addiction on marital life in particular and family life in general, as well as implementing preventive counseling programs by relevant family authorities to guide married couples and teach them methods and skills that enhance the quality and success of the marital relationship, protecting them from reaching marital alienation.
