Abstract:

While political hypocrisy is a widespread phenomenon within Iraqi political context, psycho-political literature have maintained that citizens recognize political hypocrisy as an immoral, must-condemn feature. Other studies, however, have shown that lack of hypocrisy in politicians has positive consequences, including good faith in political regime. The research aimed at; 1- Measuring political hypocrisy among politicians from the perspective of university students 2. The comparison in the political hypocrisy of politicians from the point of view of university students according to the gender variable (male-female). To achieve the objectives of the research, the researcher built a scale of political hypocrisy, and the safety of the psychometric properties of the scale was confirmed. After that, the researcher applied the scale to a sample of (480) male and female students. After processing the data, the research reached the following: 1. Politicians are characterized by political hypocrisy. 2. The superiority of males over females in describing politicians as hypocritical. In light of the research results, the researcher developed a set of recommendations and suggestions.
