Abstract:

The aim of this study is to determine the extent of the
economic problems regarding social work experienced by Syrian refugee children.
In the study, the scanning model, one of the quantitative research methods, was
used. The sample of the study consists of 409 Syrian students attending
secondary education (9th, 10th, 11th and 12th grades) in the city center of
Şanlıurfa. 258 (63.1%) female and 151 (36.9%) male students participated in the
study. The measurement tool was the interview form (questionnaire) created by
the researcher. Correlation, independent sample t test, one-way variance
(ANOVA) and frequency analysis were used in the analysis process of the data
obtained from the research. The majority of the Syrian refugee children
consider the living conditions in Turkey easy.
It has been found that the vast majority of these people are happy to
live in Turkey. It has also been observed that the ones finding the living
circumstances in Turkey hard want to go to like Germany, England and France in
refugee status and that they bind their reluctance to live in Turkey to
economic and cultural reasons. It has been determined that during their stay in
Turkey most of the children received assistance from civil society
organizations assistance within the context of social work which remained
insufficient to meet their needs. In order for these children to develop a
healthy development, it is thought that it is necessary to cooperate with
international organizations within the scope of social work and to proceed with
a generalist perspective on social work in the future practices.
