Abstract:

The first raids of Islam armies to central Kars Vanand region took place in the period of Hazrat Omer in 640. Following these discovery weighted movements, Caliph Hazrat Osman assigned Habib b. Mesleme again to conquest these places. Habib b. Mesleme, who came to Sırak region at the command position of the army in 26/646, subordinated Kars and its neighbourhood to the control of Islam. The life and goods of the people were put under protection, and their shrines, religions and all kinds of life styles were not touched in this first Islamic period which lasted more than three centuries. Therefore, this situation continued till 915/922 when the control of Sacogulları state suffered.
