 The aim of this study is to examine the relationship between the play preferences of preschool-aged children and their problem behaviors. The study was conducted with a sample group of children attending preschool education in Pendik District, Istanbul, during the 2022-2023 academic year. Data on the children were collected from 454 parents. The study utilized a data form, the Play Preferences Scale PPS, and the Problem Behavior Scale PBS. The collected data were analyzed using correlation and regression analyses. According to the findings of the study, while a negative significant relationship was found between childrens externalizing problem behaviors and together play, building-construction play, play with rule and cooperative play, a positive relationship was found with digital games. Additionally, childrens internalizing problem behaviors were positively related to parallel play and digital games, while negatively related to cooperative play and together play. Regression analysis results indicate that as children prefer play with rule and together play, their externalizing problem behaviors decrease. As children prefer parallel play and digital games, their internalizing problem behaviors increase, while preferring together play decreases internalizing problem behaviors. These findings help us better understand the impact of play preferences on problem behaviors and offer new perspectives to educators and parents on how to address problem behaviors.

 Bu çalışmanın amacı, okul öncesi çağındaki çocukların oyun tercihleri ile problem davranışları arasındaki ilişkiyi incelemektir. Çalışma, 2022-2023 Eğitim-Öğretim yılında İstanbul İli Pendik İlçesinde okul öncesi eğitime devam eden çocukları kapsayan bir çalışma grubu ile gerçekleştirilmiştir. Çocuklar hakkında veriler, 454 ebeveynden toplanmıştır. Araştırmada, bilgi formu, Oyun Tercihleri Ölçeği OTÖ ve Problem Davranış Ölçeği PDÖ kullanılmıştır. Toplanan veriler, korelasyon ve regresyon analizleri ile çözümlenmiştir. Çalışmanın bulgularına göre çocukların dışa yönelim problem davranışları ile birlikte oyun, yapı-inşa oyun, kurallı oyun ve işbirlikçi oyun arasında negatif yönde anlamlı ilişki bulunurken, dijital oyunla pozitif ilişkili bulunmuştur. Ayrıca, çocukların içe yönelim problem davranışları ile paralel oyun ve dijital oyunlarla pozitif ilişkili iken, işbirlikçi oyun ve birlikte oyunla negatif ilişkilidir. Regresyon analizi sonuçlarına göre çocuklar kurallı oyun ve birlikte oyun oynamayı tercih ettikçe, dışa yönelim problem davranışları azalmaktadır. Çocuklar, paralel oyun ve dijital oyun oynamayı tercih ettikçe, içe yönelim problem davranışları artmakta, birlikte oyun oynamayı tercih ettiğinde ise içe yönelimli problem davranışları azalmaktadır. Bu bulgular, oyun tercihlerinin problem davranışlar üzerindeki etkisini daha iyi anlamamıza yardımcı olurken, eğitimciler ve ebeveynlere problem davranışlar ile başa çıkmak için yeni perspektifler sunmaktadır.
