Abstract:

The current study aimed to develop a scale to measure individuals exercise motivation attitudes and conduct validity and reliability studies. The participants were 760 people 340 men and 420 women. First, a draft item pool was prepared, and the final version of the scale 20 items was created according to the analysis results. In the data analysis, frequency and percentage values were calculated. The scale was evaluated in terms of structure and content validity, and in this context, exploratory factor analysis and confirmatory factor analysis were first applied. In addition, the scales Cronbach alpha, item-total correlation, and 27 lower-upper group total score were evaluated. The three-factor structure formed after the exploratory factor analysis was confirmed by confirmatory factor analysis. The resulting 3-factor structure was determined to explain 70.092 of the total variance. The fact that the Cronbach alpha coefficients of the scale are between 0.792 and 0.933 shows that the results are reliable. Test-retest results showed no significant differences between the results of the two applications in the overall scale and its sub-dimensions. As a result, validity and reliability analyses of the exercise motivation attitude scale were conducted and included in the literature.
