Abstract:
This research paper aims to shed light on an important topic in the field of linguistics in general, and applied linguistics in particular, related to semantic generation and language development. It is the important link in lexical generation because it contains effective means of linguistic expansion, mainly represented in metaphor and translation. These two means were excavated in the Dictionary of the Contemporary Arabic Language by Dr. Ahmed Mukhtar Omar in order to prove the extent of the dictionary’s author’s interest in enriching the Arabic language through these two mechanisms. The most important findings of this conclusion are included

Keywords: semantic metaphor generation; Lexical semantics; Translation.
