Abstract:

With the expansion of cities, the need for urban residents to connect with nature has increased. Individuals seeking to escape stress have begun to prefer green spaces such as nature reserves, forested areas, and urban parks. In this context, the integration of green spaces and waterfronts into recreational activities is of great importance. Among such natural areas, national parks stand out as significant sites. This study evaluates the recreational potential of Kovada Lake National Park using the Gülez method. This method involves scoring various criteria and calculating a final score within a specific formula. According to the study results, the park received high scores for its landscape and climatic attributes. However, it was found to be insufficient in terms of recreational facilities. Based on the overall assessment, the parks recreational potential score was calculated as 70, categorizing it as having a High Forest Recreation Potential. These findings indicate that Kovada Lake National Park is a significant area for recreation and serves as an ideal destination for individuals seeking relaxation in a natural setting.
