 Induction is the first and most important phase of general anesthesia (GA), this phase is defined as the period of anesthesia beginning with the administration of anesthetic agents and ending at the surgical incision. There are two types of anesthetic induction: inhalation induction (IH) and intravenous induction (IV) depending on the mode of administration of the anesthetic agents. Mask induction can again be offered to adult patients because of the properties of sevoflurane; it is then part in the same as total intravenous anesthesia in a concept of continuity of the hypnotic agent, between induction and maintenance of anaesthesia such as total intravenous anaesthesia. The good tolerance of sevoflurane makes it possible to propose a mask induction to all patients but the specific indications of choice of this technique and the contraindications in adults must be respected. Inhalation anesthesia is surely not a topical issue, we were interested in a recent and little used practice in Algeria since the economic means of our company can access certain products such as sevoflurane and closed-circuit anesthetic equipment only late.
