Abstract:

With the transition to a settled life, the use of furniture became one of the essential needs, and the shaping of furniture was gradually influenced by aesthetic concerns. Similarly, the concept of design has changed and evolved over time, influenced by many factors. This article examines the impact of basic design principles, which are part of the design, on furniture design. Initially, the historical development and transformation process of furniture and the meanings of the concepts of furniture and design are discussed. Previous studies related to design processes and furniture design processes have been reviewed, and particularly the preferred basic design principles in furniture design have been explained with examples. How basic design principles are applied in furniture design, how they contribute to its aesthetic and functional value, and how these applications affect the user experience are addressed. The aim is to demonstrate how designers can effectively use basic design principles in the furniture design process. As a result of the research, it has been emphasized that basic design principles are important elements in furniture design that balance aesthetics and functionality, diversify the user experience, and reflect and enhance the identity of the space. It is concluded that creative, innovative, user-oriented, and aesthetically rich furniture designs can be achieved with the correct use of these principles.
