Abstract:
The German-originated reception theory is one of the modernist critical trends that brought new methodological insights and perceptions in dealing with the creative phenomenon. One of its most important axes was to focus on the recipient as the cornerstone of the creative process. This theory framed a range of critical terminology and concepts, but it lacked precision in the determination because of its diversity from researcher to researcher, creating chaos and acute terminological disorder that encompassed both the term “reception” and the underlying concepts. This situation has become problematic and, through this study, we seek to diagnose its causes, follow its manifestations, and research proposals for solutions. This study is important because it tries to highlight one of the most important problems in the critical arena, which has been an obsession with our critics and continues to require serious research efforts.
