Abstract:

Symbol language, which provides communication between people, has linguistic variations, religious ceremonies, unlimited interpretations in terms of thinking and meaning, is the product of human thought and reflects the collective unconscious. Factors such as shared historical memories, common linguistic and cultural ties, and common geography in societys memory are national culture elements that will cause symbolization. Thus, symbols also contribute to the formation of national identity. The subject of the study is to examine the symbol language in apocalyptic narratives and extraordinary beings that have an impact on the cultural development of a nation within the framework of disaster management. In the study, texts on the subject of death, selected from folk narrative genres with the random sampling method, were examined from a hermeneutic perspective using literary knowledge and methods. The aim of the study is to show the functions of extraordinary beings in folk narratives about the end of life and the universe during disasters and their reflections in the collective unconscious, based on the relationship between culture and symbol. In the disasters related to the apocalypse; earthquakes, floods, fires, disasters related to the earth and the sky, destructions carried out under the control of angels and demons. In the narratives about the end of life and the universe, the situation of good and evil, the division of labor of extraordinary beings are explained in a way that creates unity. Disaster management is a multifaceted, organized and effective set of studies covering the before, during and after of disasters. As a result, apocalyptic narratives, which are discussed within the framework of disasters and disaster management, are conscious creations that construct the social background, vary over time, enable inferences to be made about public life, and are constructed with the common experiences of human beings.
