Abstract:

As a social being, a person has to choose and work according to his personal abilities in order to survive. The Quran aims to establish an exemplary civilization for humanity as well as its main purpose of “guiding guidance”. In this respect, the Quran was interested in the truths of life, touched on the facts about social life, and commanded people to work and encouraged them to reconstruct the earth. We observe that work and various professions, which are the truth of life, are pointed out especially in stories containing news from prophets and previous nations, in similar stories, in verses that declare judgment and prove Allah’s monotheism and majesty. In our attributed study; we aim to reveal the concept of profession (vocation) in the Quran, to determine the most cited profession types and to examine the verses and interpretations about “hunting”. As far as we can determine the topics relevant to the subject of the article is an original scientific work has not been mentioned in Turkey before. In our article, we will first deal with the concept of profession and express the importance of working and having a profession in religious and social aspects. Then, we will try to evaluate all the verses of the Quran in the context of work and profession (vocation). Finally, we will examine the verses in Sourate al-Maidah about “hunting” and make use of the comments of contemporary and classical interpreters (mufassir) on the subject. We think that our article will attract the attention of researchers, encourage them to examine the subject from different aspects and open the door to new studies.
