Abstract:

Tawhid (monotheism), which forms the basis of the principles of faith, is one of the key concepts  of the Qur’an that can be dealt with in many ways. The conception of divinity of Islam is based on the existence, oneness and supremacy of Allah.  The Qur’an defends the principle of monotheism, which means His uniqueness and unity, rather than the existence of Allah. Proving of the existence of Allah also means the proving of His unity. In this sense, the universe and all creatures in it point to the existence of Allah, and the order and arrangement in these beings point to the unity of Allah.

There is a delicate order and harmony in the living and non-living substances that make up the universe. The existence of a certain order requires the existence of different and diverse beings. If there were no differences and contradictions in the universe order, it would not be possible to talk about a harmonious whole. Despite all the contrasts, the harmony and beauty seen in the objects is made possible by a Supreme Being that puts everything in its place. Therefore, the verses draw attention to the phenomenon of harmony and diversity in the universe as evidence of the existence and unity of this Supreme Creator. In this study, the concept of monotheism will be discussed in terms of differences and diversity in both ontological and socio-cultural fi elds.
