Abstract:

In the multiplicity of its expressions and the diversity of its forms, African literature continues to articulate and depict the reality of the continent. It transposes its transformations, its heritage, its deep-rootedness, as well as its journey onto the global stage with its stakes and challenges. While it is true that the prolific output of Francophone African writers reflects an undeniable vitality—one that 'the children of the postcolony' proudly uphold—it remains equally true that this literature continues to tie its success to external validation and mortgages its glory to a readership largely located elsewhere. Indeed, this issue examines the status of the Francophone African writer, the stakes that shape their positioning in the literary field, and, above all, the imaginary that surrounds their existence and shapes their storytelling.
