Abstract:

Kars, located in the northeastern part of the Anatolian geography, is a region rich in rock paintings. Borluk valley, located within the borders of Kars province, is a place where many different figures are drawn. In this research, the artistic aspect of the rock paintings in the Borluk valley was examined in terms of both their subject and drawing methods. While examining the artistic aspect of the Kars Borluk valley rock paintings, their similarities with the rock paintings found in other geographies of the world were also taken into account. The rock paintings of the Borluk valley and the rock paintings in other regions within the borders of Kars province were also compared. The results of the research showed that the rock paintings of Borluk valley are found in various parts of the Central Asian geography and reflect the artistic perspective of the nomadic peoples understanding of life. This reflection shows itself in many different figures depicted on the rocks. In addition, these similar motifs engraved on stones in the geography of the Turkic world centered in Central Asia are the proofs of Turkish culture and art from the past to the present.
