 Background and aims In our world, the effects of global warming are reaching more serious levels day by day. Protecting heat losses, which are one of the systemic causes of the global system and using energy consumption efficiently are of vital importance in terms of taking into account the effects of global warming. In this study, the thermal conductivity properties of some varnishes commonly used in the surface coating of wood and wood-based materials were investigated. Methods For this purpose, particleboard YL and medium density fiberboard MDF surfaces of different thicknesses 8 mm, 18 mm, 30 mm; A total of 108 samples were prepared by applying cellulose varnish, polyurethane varnish, synthetic varnish and water-based varnish. The densities of the prepared specimens were obtained according to the TS EN 3231 principles. The coefficients of thermal conductivity and thermal permeability were determined according to the principles of TS EN 12667. Results At the end of the study, thermal conductivity coefficient; The highest Wm.K of 0.1085 was obtained in 30 mm MDF samples with cellulosic varnish, and the lowest was obtained with 0.0895 Wm.K in 18 mm particleboard samples with water-based varnish. Thermal permeability coefficient; The highest 12,583 Wm².K was obtained in 8 mm MDF samples with cellulosic varnish applied, and the lowest was 3,152 Wm².K in 30 mm particleboard samples with water-based varnish. Conclusion It has been determined that varnishes are effective on thermal conductivity properties, and water-based varnishes have the most effect.

 Giriş ve Hedefler Dünyamızda, küresel ısınmanın etkileri gün geçtikçe daha ciddi boyutlara ulaşmaktadır. Küresel ısınmanın başlıca sebeplerinden birisi olan ısı kayıplarının önlenmesi ve enerji kaynaklarının verimli kullanılması küresel ısınmanın etkilerinin azaltılması bakımından hayati önem taşımaktadır. Bu çalışmada, ahşap ve ahşap esaslı malzemelerin yüzey kaplamalarında yaygın olarak kullanılan bazı verniklerin ısı iletkenlik özelliklerine etkileri araştırılmıştır. Yöntemler Farklı kalınlıklardaki 8 mm,18 mm, 30 mm yonga levha YL ve orta yoğunlukta lif levha MDF yüzeylerine; selülozik vernik, poliüretan vernik, sentetik vernik ve su bazlı vernik uygulanarak toplam 90 adet örnek hazırlanmıştır. Hazırlanan deney örneklerinin yoğunlukları TS EN 3231, numunelerin ısı iletkenlik ve ısı geçirgenlik katsayıları TS EN 12667 standardına uygun olarak tayin edilmiştir. Bulgular Çalışma sonunda, ısı iletkenlik katsayısı; en yüksek 0,1085 Wm.K ile selülozik vernik uygulanmış 30 mm MDF örneklerde, en düşük ise 0,0895 Wm.K ile su bazlı vernik uygulanmış 18 mm yonga levha örneklerde elde edilmiştir. Isı geçirgenlik katsayısı; en yüksek 12,583 Wm².K ile selülozik vernik uygulanmış 8 mm MDF örneklerde, en düşük ise 3,152 Wm².K ile su bazlı vernik uygulanmış 30 mm yonga levha örneklerde elde edilmiştir. Sonuçlar Verniklerin ısı iletkenlik özellikleri üzerinde etkili olduğu, en fazla etkiyi ise su bazlı verniklerin gösterdiği belirlenmiştir.
