Abstract:

The agricultural sector has been one of the important occupations in every period of history, with its feature of meeting the nutritional needs of the population living in the country. It is stated that the agricultural sector has strategic importance as it provides raw materials for the industry, contributes to export revenues, provides employment and income opportunities for the people living in the country. Although the contribution of the agricultural sector to GDP has tended to decrease with the industrialization process, it is known that the sector maintains its importance in every period due to its connection with other fields of activity. This study tries to investigate the effects of agricultural supports and government stability on agricultural added value in 6 developing countries with the highest agricultural production value worldwide in 2018 according to FAO data. In this direction, based on the existing literature, an econometric model has been established with agricultural employment, per capita income, width of agricultural lands and import of agricultural raw materials as an explanatory of agricultural value added. Findings from static panel data analysis show that agricultural employment, government stability, agricultural land size and agricultural raw material imports have positive effects on agricultural value added, while per capita income has negative effects. Although the effect of agricultural support given to producers on agricultural value added is positive, it is not statistically significant.
