Abstract:

Yasmina Reza is one of the most successful French playwrights on the international scene. Today she is a writer whose influence on the public is undeniable. In the play's scenography, Yasmina refers to the obsession of modernity with the purity of photography that seeks to achieve "flatness." Based on the analysis of selected passages from this piece and the tools of the scenography, we plan to explore the strategies that Yasmina adopts to produce a feminine effect that leads to the champions of the traditional male paradigm. The playwright emphasizes the absurdity of the stereotypes that imprison women and at the same time provide an exceptional liberation for the male character. Likewise, it condemns the stereotypes that pervade the construction of male and female identity. Through her essay, she launched a call to break archetypes and deconstruct gender codes where men are a kind of power bloc and women are always submissive. 'Art' remains incomplete; The friends start over and think about a trial period, Mark tries a new experiment on the whiteboard, and their entire friendship story keeps needing to be reconstructed. It is a play on almost nothing, the monochromatic white color of the painter Antrios is the subject of contention and the fourth primary actor in the drama. This abstract was translated by Dar AlMandumah Inc.
