Abstract:

One of the basic principles of education is to have students develop fast and fluent writing skills. Successful handwriting is considered as a prerequisite for academic success. Therefore, teaching how to write cursive and script is a common argue among researchers and teachers. Some researchers and teachers propose the teaching of script handwriting with evolving technology while some of them advocates the inclined cursive writing. Upon this, researches have been conducted on the physical and mental effects of the writing being taught. The cursive handwriting is faster and makes writing practices easier with respect to script handwriting. It is known that cursive handwriting provides many advantages for cognitive and physical development as well as language development and teaching. Cursive handwriting enhances thinking by supporting the improvement of mental development. The continuity, fluency, and attention in cursive handwriting have an impact on reading skills as well. This continuity, fluency and speed in reading and writing make a unite and enhance the improvement of students’ thinking, comprehension, questioning and attribution skills. When the physical development of children is taken into account, cursive handwriting is stated to be more appropriate for children’s finger and hand muscles. In our country, contingent writing and literacy liaison were initiated in 1928 under the leadership of Atatürk, and the oblique writing adjacent to the students and adults was taught. In 2004, teaching with adjacent writing was started in the first grade. In 2018, the Ministry of National Education announced that the preference of adjacent curve writing is going to be under consideration of the teacher. We would like to emphasize the importance of adjoining oblique writing and the raising the quality of future generations.

Okuma ve yazmadaki bu süreklilik, akıcılık ve hız giderek bir bütün oluşturmakta;
belirtilmektedir. Ülkemizde bitişik eğik yazı ile okuma yazma
seferberliği Atatürk’ün önderliğinde 1928 yılında başlatılmış, öğrenci ve
yetişkinlere bitişik eğik yazı öğretilmiştir. 2004 yılında bitişik eğik yazı
öğretimine birinci sınıfta başlanmıştır. Milli Eğitim Bakanlığı 2018 yılında
bitişik eğik yazının öğretmenin tercihine bırakılacağını açıklamıştır.
Dileğimiz bitişik eğik yazıya önem verilmesi ve gelecek nesillerin nitelikli
yetiştirilmesidir.
