Abstract:

Sufism, with its deep and subtle meaning, is extremely important for Islamic civilization in terms of understanding and living the religion of Islam. It is known that the importance of Sufism for the state and the people clearly increased in times when the Turkish-Islamic states were experiencing political and military chaos. As a matter of fact, at the time when the Mamluk State emerged, the Islamic world was in difficulties in every respect. During the Mamluk State period, which is the subject of our study, Sufism played a significant role in both state and public life in Egypt and Syria due to the historical and political process that the state was in. In this study, we aim to convey our evaluations by discussing the process of the understanding of Sufism, which developed in the general historical process, extending to the Mamluk State and its place in the Mamluk State its historical importance and mission. At this point, what Ibn Khaldun d. 8081406 said who tried to explain the events in the context of cause-effect relationships, sheds light on us. In the study, historical sources of the period and recent studies on the subject were used.
