Abstract:

The novel today rebelled against the idea of gender purity and opened to all forms of linguistic and non-linguistic expression. This study attempts to approach this overlap in the Algerian novel which acquired a great capacity in embracing many literary genres as well as the arts to create a mixtures between whatis poetic, plastic, mythical, historical, cinematic…etc Therefore, this study aims to reveal this overlap in the novel “The Wall of Wailing” by Izz al-Din Djelawji, which is an addition to the Algerian novelist’s achievement, with its modernist features that go beyond the traditional achievement through its attempt to open up to various arts, especially plastic art.
Key words: Wailing Wall; Plastic Art; Word Painting; Novel ; Artistic Paintings .
