Abstract:

This article on the Saltukids, who were founded in Erzurum, basically consists of three titles. Under the first heading, important issues such as the lineage of Ebul-Kâsım Saltuk, the founder and patriarch of the Saltuks Principality, whose founder and name ancestor, Ebul-Kâsım Saltuk, who took part in the Battle of Manzikert, which determined the fate of Anatolia, and who was entrusted with the administration and protection of an important place such as Erzurum, are discussed in the sources, as well as his position within the Seljuk State and the date of the foundation of the principality. Under the second heading, the political and military events that took place during the rule of Mama Khatun, the Saltukid Queen, about whom most of the information is controversial, including the date of her accession to the leadership of the principality, as well as very little information about the period of her rule, are included. Finally, the third chapter deals with the end of Mama Khatuns rule by her nephews, the rule of Alaeddin Melikshah, the son of Nâsıreddin Muhammed, and the end of the Saltukids Principality, which had existed for more than a century, in 1202 by the Rükneddin Süleyman Shah II.
