Abstract:

In this research, the family institute, its changes throughout the time, its functions and social structure is studied specifically in Bingöl. By the effect of technology and modernization, fast-paced changes influence and change the family as well as education, economics and politics. The family as the smallest structure of society is the first place where the individual socializes, obtains his basic needs and develops his living skills. In this sense, it is important that it evolves in harmony with the change in society and it is considered to be normal that it has lost some of its functions while turning into a nucleus family. The prolonged time of children’s dependency, the rise of average marriage age, the changed structure of weddings, the decrease in the respect towards the elderly, disintegration at the patriarchal structure and the differences in the architecture are all reflections of this change. However; family as one of the most fundamental building blocks in society is of key importance and an important institute to ensure the continuation of human race.
