Abstract:

The land of Turkey, which has hosted many civilizations from past to present, is very rich in cultural terms. This cultural richness makes our country suitable for cultural tourism. Today, Türkiye has national and local cultural routes. These routes contribute to local development in many cultural, social and economic areas. In this study, cultural routes that can be developed in Kavak district of Samsun province and its immediate surroundings are suggested in order to protect cultural heritage and support local development. In the context of tourism activities that can arise from the existence of culture, it is aimed to promote the natural, historical and cultural values in Kavak district as a touristic product through cultural routes and to increase awareness of cultural heritage, as well as to protect and sustain the cultural heritage. For this purpose, the cultural route was determined as the method and the wooden mosques in the Kavak region were primarily used in the formation of the route. Seven wooden mosques in the region have survived to the present day. It is essential to preserve these structures in their location and in relation to each other so that they can be a reflection of the local architecture. Four cultural routes have been proposed for poplar. These are Wooden Mosques Route, Çakallı-Değirmencili Route, Tatarmuslu-Koşaca Route and Central Route. The main elements of the routes are wooden mosques, and other cultural assets and natural assets in the surrounding area are also included in the route. Thus, it has been concluded that the wooden mosques in Kavak district and its immediate surroundings can be protected, sustained and transferred to future generations, not individually, but all of them, and thus contribute to the tourism and local development of the region.
