Abstract:

ABSTRACT While Turkish literature is going forward, it is seen that the poets and artists are gathered in certain centers. The poets gathered in these certain centers used to make literary considerations, read poetry and receive criticism. As cultural centers, these literary circles were the resources which fed the poets at the same time. These circles were always formed by the influence of people who gave importance to literature, protected the artists with their generosity and kindness and rewarded the valuable works. Thus, these communities formed a literary circle around certain people at various times. Yildirim Bayezid is known as the first sultan who gathered the poets around him in our history. Later, communities of scholars, poets and artists were formed around sultans, viziers and other dignitaries. Thus, they found dignitaries to protect themselves. On the other hand, the dignitaries are aware that being remembered for a long time is possible with scholars, poets and artists. One of the most important sultans who attached great importance to scholars, poets and artists in the history is Fatih Sultan Mehmet. During his period, it is seen that clusters of poets were gathered around, especially including himself, Prince Bayezid, Prince Cem, Mahmud Pasha and Ahmet Pasha. It is known that the salaries of about 30 poets were paid by especially Fatih Sultan Mehmet. The poets around the princes directed their lives according to their loyalties to the prince. A broad scholar and poet community was formed around Prince Bayezid while he was a governor in Amasya. The poets around Cem Sultan were called as the poets of Cem in our literary history. Mahmut Pasha kept protecting the scholars, poets and artists around him until his execution, and Ahmet Pasha had poets around him despite his being exiled to Bursa after being disgraced. However, the community of poets around Ahmet Pasha was not as strong and more as the others. Besides, the number of poets in these formed literary circles showed changes over time. This situation affected positively and developed the tradition of protectorate in our literature as well.
