Abstract:

Abstract:

Zawayas in Algeria had the greatest merit in maintaining the Algerian identity represented in the Arabic language, Islamic religion and national affiliation throughout and even after French colonization. The Zawaya called on their followers to jihad against the colonialist, and they formed centers of mobilization against the invaders. Then the zawiyas have developed over time and have become spiritual places and religious buildings that uplift generations and give birth to devotees. In this research, I chose the example of the Zawiya of Sidi Muhammad Ibn Omar of the wilaya of Tlemcen, which is a great religious edifice of knowledge, spirituality and charity which was and remains to this day a beacon illuminating the ways of those who walk and transmits to them the principles of Arabic, Islam and patriotism.
