Abstract:

Hyperbole is one of the causes of extremism and from its forms. Extremism is varied by the diversity of behaviour and ideas. It is considered that extremism has historical roots that began since the emergence of schools of thoughts and sects in the Ummah (the Islamic Nation). The causes of religious extremism varied from ignorance of religion and intolerance to imams and opinions and the difference in understanding and the first example for this was represented by the Kharijites in their thoughts, the second and the third were the Shia, and the Batiniya and even superficial Dhahiriya. These have defined the features of extremist thinking in Islam, and perhaps by knowing them the basis and features of moderate thought can be understood.
