Abstract:

In this paper, an analysis of the structure of demand by income groups was performed on individual household data in 1987 and 1994 conducted by the State Institute of Statistics. LA/AIDS was used to the structural parameters of the demand equations. Homogeneity and symmetry restrictions were rejected. According to the estimation results, all of the goods are normal and food and housing expenditures categories in 1987, food and house furnishing items in 1994 are found to be necessities while the others are found to be luxuries. It is also determined that in both surveys, there are economies of scale in the consumption of food and clothing by means of estimated household size elasticities. Whether consumption patterns change between survey periods and income groups was tested using F test. It was understood that clothing consumption pattern was to be unchanged among income groups but others changed. In general of 1987 and 1994 all of the consumption patterns were changed.

Türkiye kentsel kesimine ait 1987 ve 1994 yılları hanehalkı anket verileri kullanılarak gelir grupları itibariyle tüketim kalıplarının araştırıldığı bu çalışmada, incelenen malların tümü normal mal olarak bulunmuştur. Talep sisteminde homojenlik ve simetri kısıtları reddedilmiştir. Her iki anket döneminde gelir yükseldikçe yiyecek harcamalarının esnekliği azalmaktadır.
