Abstract:

Imprisonment is one of the types of punitive methods that fall on people in different societies (such as physical torture, fines, exile and deportation, life imprisonment and execution. . . etc) as a result of committing criminal acts that affected the security of the state and society and the safety of its members, and to ensure the cessation and non-return of the criminal act, and perhaps the history of criminal thought contributed to the development of the social reaction and towards the convict, the most important of which is the traditional deterrence theory and the modern theory of social defense, in addition to addressing the Islamic view of the prisoner and how to deal with him, after the prison in ancient societies was a way to deter the offender by placing him in closed places isolating him from society without taking into account The lowest conditions of commitation, in addition to the cruelty applied and the severity in implementation, came the stage of the control of the Church on the government in many countries, so the prison system was applied and widely used where the idea of solitary confinement appeared, and the aim was to refine and reform the convict.
Our intervention aims to show that the factors of changing societies are accompanied by an evolution in the mechanisms and mechanisms within which social systems and institutions operate in general and the institution.
