Abstract:

This article examines the problematic relationship between religion and politics through Leo Strauss’s critic of modernity, conceived as a crisis rooted in the moral and axiological core of political life. According to Strauss, modernity began with Spinoza’s break between theology and politics, leading to the loss of a transcendent foundation for truth and goodness and to the ethical disorientation of political action. this research aims to uncover the roots of this crisis and explore ways to overcome it by reconstructing the dialogue between reason and revelation, and by restoring the philosophical ground that links politics to value and justice. The analysis shows that Strauss’s project seeks to mend the relation between philosophy and religion through the revival of natural right, by restoring human moral responsibility in history and liberate modernity from its existential and spiritual crisis.
