Abstract:

Research Summary: Between Tradition and Renewal
This work examines how Algerians interact with their faith amidst the tension between tradition and renewal. It clarifies that tradition, represented by the Maliki school of thought and Sufi orders, is not merely a heritage but the foundation of the national religious identity.
Conversely, renewal, driven by technology and intellectual reform, presents a challenge to this tradition, especially among the youth. This tension is evident in several areas:
 * Religious Practices: A conflict between traditional rituals and individual practices influenced by the internet.
 * Women's Issues: A debate over reinterpreting religious texts to meet the demands of the modern era.
 * Religious Celebrations: A shift from inherited rituals to a focus on intellectual and conceptual content.
The research concludes that this relationship is not a conflict but a continuous dialogue that proves religion's vitality and adaptability. Algerians practice their faith in a space that combines the stability of their roots with the vitality of renewal, ensuring the continuity of their religious identity while keeping pace with the modern
