Abstract:

(Thuburbo Majus) ...the ancient Maghreb region, witnessed a clear prosperity of entertainment, especially during the Roman era of occupation. That was embodied through the practice of several sports activities within the listed Amphitheatre with luxurious buildings, it was funded by the Roman emperors and the regional governors and administrators for religious and political motives. These sports competitions end with precious prizes. Boxing was one of those sports known to Africans and one of the most widespread and organized, and this is confirmed by many Latin inscriptions , as well as mosaic panels, including ; the Baten Zammour panel, and the Thuburbo Majus panel.
