Abstract:

Boualem Sansal, a Francophone Algerian writer, embodies the tensions within African Francophone literature between local rootedness and international recognition. Through works such as 2084: La Fin du monde and Le Village de l’Allemand, he explores universal themes while denouncing Algeria’s political and religious excesses. This article analyzes his authorial posture, characterized by strong political engagement and complex narrative strategies, as well as the challenges of legitimization within the global literary field. Drawing on theoretical frameworks proposed by Casanova, Meizoz, and Dällenbach, it examines Sansal’s place within both the African and global literary canon, highlighting the tensions between resistance and adaptation to the expectations of a global readership.
